About First Book Canada & Our Network

First Book Canada is a non-profit that provides new books and educational resources - for free and at low cost - to schools and programs serving children in need, from birth to age 18. Our purpose is to raise the quality of education for children by making sure they have access to the resources they need to be successful in school and in life.

To access the resources available on the First Book Canada Marketplace, you must sign up and join First Book Canada’s community of educators serving kids in need and answer some questions about your school or program’s eligibility. Educators and program leaders can create a free account anytime at www.fbmpcanada.org/register.

Tools to promote diversity & inclusion.

Representation in books matters. First Book Canada has a consistent and intentional commitment to providing access to affordable books and resources that promote diversity, boost empathy, and create inclusive environments in schools and programs. Explore our Stories for All Project™ page to learn more!

Access to the Book Bank.

Through our one-of-a-kind Book Bank, members can order brand-new books and resources in bulk for just the cost of shipping and handling! Books and educational resources offered in the Book Bank are donated by our generous publisher and vendor partners.

FREE educational resources.

Our members drive everything that we do, and that's why we create free resources available through the First Book Canada Accelerator™. Every now and then we ask our members to share their unique needs and concerns in surveys or focus groups, and this feedback drives the development of expert-informed free resources for educators on relevant topics like race and social justice, student mental health, and social and emotional learning (SEL).
